Second Scientific Conference of International Society of Chinese Psycho-counselors & International Forum of Third Post-Disaster Psychological and Mental Health Aid

(July 23-27, 2010. Dujiangyan, Sichuan, China)


According to the research of International Association of Chinese Medical Specialists and psychologists (IACMSP), ¡°Second Scientific Conference of International Society of Chinese Psycho-counselors & International Forum of Third Post-Disaster Psychological and Mental Health Aid¡± will be held in Dujiangyan City, Sichuan, China, on July 23-27, 2010. The visit of psychological reconstruction will be arranged during the same time in Dujiangyan City and Beichuan County, the hardest areas hit by earthquake. Notice of conference is as follows.

I. Background

In order to unite the Chinese Counselors all over the world, to promote psychological counseling exchanges, cooperation and development between China and other countries, to carry out volunteer work of psychological aid to benefit people, after "512" earthquake in Sichuan, IACMSP formed the International Federation of Chinese Psychological and Mental Health Assistance. On the third Congress of IACMSP in Hong Kong in July 28-30, 2008, according to suggestion of the registered psychologists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries, it was renamed to International Society for Chinese Psycho-Counselors (ISCPC). On September 10, 2008, IACMSP reported to New York State government to register ISCPC as IACMSP secondary institutions. In May 2009, the first preparatory meeting of the Council of the ISCPC was held in Beijing, China. On November 2009, the First Congress & Scientific Conferences of ISCPC was held in Haikou City, Hainan, China, to announce the formal establishment of the first session of the Council of ISCPC.

After "512" earthquake in Sichuan in China, IACMSP begun the work of post-disaster mental health services and psychological assistance in time. October 12, 2008, "The First International Forum of Post-disaster Psychological and Mental Health Aid in Sichuan 512" was held in Mianyang City, Sichuan, China. More than 200 oversea scholars from the United States, Canada, France, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and related professionals from mainland China attended the forum to exchange the experience and understanding of post-disaster psychological and mental health aid in "512". In the forum, IACMSP presented the "First International Monica Humanitarian Award." to excellent volunteers in "512" psychological and mental health aid. August 3, 2009, IACMSP held ¡°Second international forum of psychological and mental health aid after Sichuan ¡®512¡¯ earthquake¡± in Dandong city, Liaoning, China. 92 professionals and volunteers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States and Canada attended the forum. August 8, 2009, Morakot typhoon hit Taiwan. Taiwanese people suffered big typhoon not seen for 50 years. IACMSP then worked on "88" post-disaster psychological and mental health aid, and combine Sichuan "512" and Taiwan's "88" psychological and mental health aid, work together. On September 20, 2009, IACMSP Psychological and Mental Health Aid Coordination Center for Sichuan "5 ? 12" and Taiwan "8 ? 8" was established in New York. On January 12, 2010, a big earthquake hit Haiti. IACMSP begun the work of Haiti "112" disaster psychological first aid, psychological aid and mental health services. IACMSP will summarize and exchange the work of post-disaster psychological aid and mental health services in Sichuan "512" ,Taiwan "88" and Haiti "112".

II The main content of the conference

1, Third International Forum on Post-disaster Psychological and Mental Health Aid, to exchange the work of Sichuan, "512" Taiwan "88" and Haiti "112" psychological assistance and mental health services.

2, Second Scientific Conferences of International Society of Chinese Psycho-counselors, to exchange counseling theory and practice in Chinese communities from different countries.

3, Presenting "Second International Monica Humanitarian Award" in recognition of volunteers of psychological and mental health aid for Sichuan, "512" Taiwan "88" and Haiti "112".

4, Presenting the "First International Monica Youth Psychology Award".

5, Second work meeting for First Council of the International Society of Chinese Psycho-counselors.

6, Visit the psychological reconstruction work in earthquake worst area in Dujiangyan City and Beichuan County, Sichuan.
